Why Become A Reporter?

Heading home after midnight shift covering Bersih 4, 30 Aug 2015, Jalan Raja, Kuala Lumpur.

For countless times, I’ve been asked (most of the time – interrogated) on decision to jump into this line.

Yes, in the eyes of some, its a shock to see someone that was once a shipping/logistics enthusiast is now doing ‘nothing’ but write ups telling the story of other people and snap some photo for the good of someone he barely know off.

Some people even asked in detail, how much do i earn, and compare that to what I used to receive monthly.

Let me not forget to mention – the moment they see me riding my old kapchai buruk, the reaction is – priceless.

To receive smerks and jeling-jeling, itu benda biasa.

Interestingly, there are people that decided that I will surely end up in hell. “God forbids this job,” that was the exact phrase used.

Honestly, all that I can say is – I don’t know.

This is not something that I planned for.

It is so happen that the opportunity came by and I decided to give it a try.

But all I can say for this moment is,

Choosing to join Bernama over a lucrative offer by a MNC was one of the best decision I’ve ever made in my life.

Above all,

Its not only about the bucks I make.

It is a responsibility that I decided to take.

Maybe someday, I will tell you more about it.

Have a good Friday.

Wish you a great weekend.
